Betty Jane Dunn

Betty Jane Dunn, 77, of 4257 Moss Brook Rd., Friendship died Saturday, February 23, 2013 at her home following a lengthy illness. Born September 10, 1935 in Groveland, NY, she was the daughter of Loren B. and Edna E. Clark Irish. On November 9, 1956 in Fillmore, she married John R. Dunn who predeceased her on July 15, 2001.

Betty had grown up in Short Tract and had attended the Short Tract and Fillmore Schools. She had received her GED from BOCES at a later date. After her marriage to John her main occupation was to raise her family. In 1962 they left Short Tract to come to Friendship where they settled on Moss Brook Rd.

She enjoyed quilting, reading and doing puzzles. Most of all she loved being with her family especially the grandchildren.

She was a past member of the Short Tract United Methodist Church.

Surviving are three sons, John L. (Donna) Dunn of Friendship, Edward C. Dunn of Friendship, and Ernest R. Dunn of Belmont; three daughters, Wilma A. (William) Simons, Sharon L. (Rex) Gross, and Brenda L. (Lucas) Washington all of Friendship; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Wright of Pueblo, CO, and Dorothy (Arnold) Kerner of Brookville, PA; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Allen Budinger.

Betty was predeceased by a step father, G. Clinton Chapman; a grandson, Jason William Simons; three brothers, Clarence Irish, Lawrence Irish and Robert Irish; five sisters, Evelyn Irish, Elva Irish, Bertha Evingham, Frances Egnor and Aletha Smith.

Services will be held at the United Church of Friendship on Friday, March 1, 2013 with visitations 2-4 pm. Memorial services will follow at 4:00 pm. The Rev. Kirk Kirch, Pastor will officiate and burial will be in Mt. Hope cemetery, Friendship. Memorials may be made to the Friendship Ambulance Squad.
