Dorothy B. Curcio

Dorothy B. Curcio, 101, of 70 West Hughes St., Belfast, passed away Thursday, April 24, 2014 at her home, following a lengthy illness. Born April 21, 1913 in Angelica, she was the daughter of Harry B. and Ethel M. Lyon Warner. On March 31, 1937 in St. Patrick's Rectory, she married Domenic Paul Curcio who predeceased her on March 24, 2000.

Dorothy had resided most of her life in Belfast. She grew up in Angelica and graduated from Angelica High School. After High School she attended a nursing school in Buffalo. After she was married, she and her husband moved to Belfast where they raised their family after 1972 she was a substitute Kindergarten monitor and a School cafeteria worker in Belfast Central School. In the 1980's Dorothy was clerk at Magnano's Pharmacy for a period of 10 years.

Dorothy and her husband enjoyed traveling, especially going on a South American Cruise and in 1978 they went on a trans-Atlantic Crossing. She loved nature and long walks, also her flower gardens.

She was a member of St. Patrick's Church and its Altar and Rosary Society of Belfast. She had been active in the Belfast School PTA and a former member of the Allegany Co. Bird Club.

Surviving are two sons, Paul J. (Beatriz) Curcio of Belfast, and Philip W. (Annette) Curcio of Belfast; two daughters, Sylvia G. (Al) Tucker of Cuba, and Celeste M. (Claus) Wuersig of Cuba; several nieces and nephews including Dorothy Clarkson who was raised as a 3rd daughter; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.

Dorothy was predeceased by a great granddaughter Amanda Curcio; and a sister Marguerite Clarkson.

There will be no visitations. Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial at St. Patrick's Church on Monday, April 28, 2014 at 11:00 am. The Rev. Dennis Mancuso, Pastor will be celebrant and burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Belfast. Memorials may be made to the Belfast Free Library or the Belfast Rescue Squad.
