Edward Thomas Jester, 91, of Oramel Hill Rd., Caneadea died Monday, April 15, 2013 at Bath VA Medical Center, following a brief illness. Born March 18, 1922 in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of Adam and Susie Kubish Jester. On November 20, 1948 in Niagara Falls, he married the former Helen Marie Reece who predeceased him on May 5, 1981.
Ed had resided most of his life in the Niagara Falls and Caneadea areas. He grew up in Niagara Falls and had graduated from Lewiston, NY High School class of 1940. In 1960 he moved from Niagara Falls to Black Creek and then to Caneadea in 1963. Ed was a jack of all trades and could do most anything. He was an industrial painter and in his capacity painted bridges, houses and water towers. He also dynamited on construction sites such as tunnels in Niagara Falls gorge.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and shooting guns. His greatest love was to be with his family and friends and talking to them.
He was a member of the Painters Union in both Niagara Falls and Olean and a member of the Sportsman's Club in Rushford.
Surviving are three sons, Paul E. (Dale) Jester of Wayland, Franklin J. (Annette) Jester of Leicester, and Edward T. Jester Jr of Phoenix, NY;
a daughter, Vivian J. (Robert Ellis) Henry of Fillmore; 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Ed was predeceased by a son, Robert Mang; three brothers, Frank, John and Joseph; and two sisters, Frances Stader and Josephine Skrlin.
Friends may call at the Treusdell Funeral Home, Belfast 2:30 to 5:30 pm Thursday April 18, 2013. Funeral services will be held immediately following visitations at 5:30 pm The Rev. Dennis Mancuso, pastor of St Patrick's Church will officiate and burial will be in Oramel Cemetery, Town of Caneadea. Memorials may be made to Belfast Rescue Squad or the American Diabetes Society.
