Henry D. "Buddy" Miles, 58 of 17 Martin St. died October 27, 2012 at the home of his daughter with whom he resided following a long illness. Born December 7, 1954 in Cuba, he was the son of the late Henry G. and Myrtle Claire Miles. He had been married to the former Robin Cummins.
Buddy had resided most of his life in Belmont then later in Cuba. He grew up in Friendship and attended Friendship Central School. He served in the Navy during the Viet Nam Era from 1973 to 1975. After returning home from the Navy he worked at Miller and Brandes in Friendship for a short time in the garage, then for a few years was employed at Farnsworth Cookies in Cuba. Later he was employed at Housing Action in Belmont. He then worked for LC Whitford Co. Inc, then followed by working many years at the Cuba Lake Marina.
Buddy enjoyed carpentry work, painting and woodworking which he was very talented in. He enjoyed listening to classic Rock Music, watching Nascar racing, routing for the late Dale Earnhart and Dale Earnhart Jr. He enjoyed working on cars with his late Uncle Paul. He also loved the water and working on boats at the Cuba Lake Marina. He rebuilt his own pontoon boat, which he took much pride in and enjoyed spending time on it even it was just sitting docked at Carpie's Bar and Grill or taking a "Jungle Cruise". Most of all he loved his family and friends and being around them.
He coached T-ball one summer in Belmont for the Athletic's He Also was a member of the VFW in Cuba.
Surviving are a daughter, Carina M. Miles of Belmont; a brother, Bruce L. Miles of Nile; three sisters, Roberta A. Hamilton of Nile, Barbara J. (William) Davidson of Friendship, and
Bonnette M. Bliss of Nile; and several nieces and nephews.
Buddy was predeceased by his mother and father; and two brothers, Wilson P. Miles and Barry J. Miles.
A special thanks to Don Cole, Adrian Watson, and his family, for all their help and being there in the time of need. Also thanks to the VA, Southern Tier Home Health and Home Care and Hospice.
Friends may call at the Treusdell Funeral Home, Friendship, 2-4 pm Tuesday October 30, 2012 where immediately following visitations funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm. Deacon Frank Pasquale, Belmont will officiate.
