Howard B. Bean, 69, of 3007 Clair Currier Rd., Town of Wirt died Sunday February 10, 2012 at Jones Memorial Hospital, Wellsville following an illness. Born August 29, 1943 in Olean, he was the son of Arthur J. and Ruth I. Maxson Bean. On December 15, 1962 in Cuba, he married the former Sharon Schultz, who survives.
Howard had resided most of his life in the Town of Wirt and had grown up in Hinsdale, attending Hinsdale School District. In 1965 he moved his family to the Town of Wirt where he has resided since. He was employed at several area businesses including, Stroehman Brothers Bakery in Olean where he was an oven operator, B.F. Goodrich Store in Olean, Sullivan and Murray in Olean and Kayes Motors in Portville.
In 1970 he began his career of driving School Bus for then Richburg Central School retiring in 2011. During his period of driving bus he found time to be dog warden for the Town of Wirt and also was constable for the Town of Wirt.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and most of all being with his family.
He attended the Haskell Community Church and was a past member of the Richburg Volunteer Fire Dept. and the Richburg fire police.
Surviving in addition to his wife Sharon are a son, Ralph A. Bean of Richburg; four daughters, Linda I. (Lon) Sweet of Cuba,
Karen M. (Galen) Martin of Friendship, Wendy M. Rich of Bolivar, and Mandy S. (Mike) Phelps of Addison; ten grandchildren;
three brothers, Lyle (Julia) Bean of Shinglehouse, Rev. Edward (Sharon) Bean of Bethlehem, PA, and Ernest (Judy) Bean of Cuba;
a sister, Eleanor (Harold) Cornelius of Mayville; and several nieces and nephews.
Howard was predeceased by his brothers Paul Charles Bean, Merle Bean; and a half Brother Lewis Hathaway.
As per Howards instruction, there will be no visitations or funeral service. Arrangements are under the direction of the Treusdell Funeral Home, Friendship. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
