James R. "Jim" Collins, 50, of 11578 Co. Rd. 27, Wiscoy, passed away Friday, January 10, 2014 at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, following a lengthy illness. Born May 16, 1963 in Cuba, he was the son of Rodney Collins and Joanne Reddy Martin.
Jim had grown up in Belfast and was a graduate of Belfast Central School, class of 1981.
In 1985 he was employed by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers # 1249 where he was a lineman and foreman for the Co. retiring in 2005 due to ill health.
He was an avid hunter, enjoyed fishing, trapping, watching football and auto racing. He loved his family, especially his 2 sons and being with them. He also enjoyed spending time with his 2 dogs.
Surviving are his mother and step father, Joanne R. (Ron) Martin of Belfast; father and step mother, Rodney and Louise Collins of Durham, N. Carolina;
two sons, Derek T. Collins of Tully, NY, and Chris D. Collins of Wiscoy; a brother, Steven M. Collins of Belfast; a sister, Tracy Knight of Belfast;
and several nephews.
Friends may call at the Treusdell Funeral Home, Belfast, 2-4 and 7-9 pm Monday where funeral and committal services will be held Tuesday January 14, 2014 at 1:00 pm. The Rev. Robert J. Mackmer, pastor of the Belfast Free Methodist Church will officiate.
