James W. Cox, 78, of 6996 Lake Rd., passed away Sunday, November 1, 2015 at Wellsville Manor Nursing Home, following a brief illness. Born October 21, 1937 in Manlius, New York, he was the son of Andrew Floyd and Josephine McDermott Cox. On October 25, 1958 in Chittenango, New York he married the former Virginia L. Aldrich who survives.
Jim had grown up in Cazenovia, New York and had graduated from the Cazenovia School in 1955. He served in the Air Force and in 1966 he came to the Belfast Area from the Manlius, New York area to begin his trucking career. His business grew to become Jaylor Trucking, trucking materials all over the US. He was still owner operator of the business up to the present time.
Jim enjoyed boxing, golf and traveling. He had a great love of all animals, especially horses. Most of all he loved his family and spending time with them.
He grew up as a strong catholic, believing in God and living the way he believed.
Surviving in addition to his wife Virginia are two sons, David W. Cox and Brian S. (Cheryl) Cox both of Belfast; 11 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren.
Jim was predeceased by a son, James Andrew Cox.
Friends may call at the Treusdell Funeral Home, Belfast, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm Thursday November 5, 2015. Funeral services will be held Friday November 6, 2015 at 11 am. Deacon Joseph Pasquella of St. Patrick's Church, Belfast, will officiate and burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Chittenango, New York at 10 am Saturday November 7, 2015.
