Lenora “Boots” Abbott Mullane

Lenora "Boots" Abbott Mullane, 88, of 16 Depot St., Friendship, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at her home following a brief illness. Born December 19, 1925 in Cuba, she was the daughter of Richard and Celestia Abbott. On April 21, 1945 she married James J. Mullane who predeceased her on May 25, 1978.

Boots, as she was known, had grown up in Cuba and was a graduate of Cuba Central School class of 1943. After graduation she was a clerk at the Phelps and Sibley Mill in Cuba for a short time. After her marriage she and her husband moved to Friendship and during the time she was raising her family, she was a self-employed seamstress in the area and was a clerk at the Clover Farm Grocery Store in Friendship. For many years she was an examiner at Allegany Co. Dept. of Social Services in both Angelica and Belmont retiring in 1985.

Boots enjoyed BINGO, all kinds of crafting, reading and hunting. Most of all she loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren and visiting with her many friends.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cuba, Life member of the Friendship American Legion post # 1168, a member of the Friendship Senior Citizens, a past 4H leader and she and her husband were a past member of the 40 Coachman Travel Club.

Surviving are two daughters, Kathryn M. "Mickey" (Steven) Cummings of Friendship, and Beverly M. (Dennis) Cooper of Friendship; grandchildren, Jim (Angel) Cummings of Friendship, DJ (Shannon) Cooper of Cuba, Jeremy (Jennifer) Cummings of Rochester, Aaron Cooper of Cuba, and Danielle (Ronald) Hosley of Friendship; great grandchildren, Trevor Cummings of Friendship, Seth Schmeelke of Delevan, Dylan Hosley of Friendship, Elliott Cummings of Rochester, Riley Cummings of Friendship, Katie Cummings of Rochester, and Cooper Hosley of Friendship; several nieces and nephews;and a brother, Douglas (Mary Lou) Abbott of Dallas, Texas.

Booots was predeceased by her parents; a daughter, Nora Lee (James) Foster; a brother, Richard Abbott; and a great grandson, Chase Cummings.

Friends may call at the Treusdell Funeral Home, Friendship Sunday March 16, 2014 2-4 and 7-9 pm where funeral and committal services will be held on Monday March 17, 2014 at 1:00 pm. The Rev. Robert Beard of Cuba will officiate and burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Friendship.
