Loretta J. Paukstela, 92, of 7269 Andrews Rd., Friendship, passed away Sunday, July 2, 2017 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, following a lengthy illness. Born March 7, 1925 in Parrsboro, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of Hanstford and Sadie Dow Amon. On August 20, 1952 in Agana, Guam she married Walter S. Paukstela, who predeceased her on November 13, 2003.
Loretta grew up in Nova Scotia and came to the Friendship area in 1979 from Phoenix Arizonia.. For the next many years she and her husband raised their family on Andrews Road in Friendship.
She enjoyed organic gardening, raising animals, listening to Dean Martin music, cooking and traveling. Most of all she loved her family and spending time with them.
She was a member of the Jehovah's Witness, Central Hinsdale Congregation.
Surviving are two sons, Mark A. Paukstela of Friendship and James M. Paukstela of Schenectady; two daughters, Rebecca A. Paukstela of Schenectady and Beverly Joan Chandler of Canada; loving daughter in law Debbie Vilanueva and loving family Frankie Ramos and Mary Vilanueva;
3 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Loretta was predeceased by a brother Howard Amon and a sister Meleta Knox.
Friends may call at the Treusdell Funeral Home, Friendship on Saturday July 8, 2017 from 10am to 12 noon, with funeral services to follow at 12 Noon. The Elder Tim Allen minister of the Jehovah's Witness, Central Hinsdale congregation will officiate and burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Friendship. Memorials may be made to the Jehovah's Witness, Central Hinsdale Congregation 4258 RT 16, Hinsdale, NY 14743.
