Rowena May Boyd

Bolivar

Rowena May Boyd, 86, of 2398 Plum St., passed away at the Olean General Hospital on March 6, 2024, of natural causes, following a brief illness. Born March 2, 1938 in the Town of Wirt, she was the daughter of Ernest L. and Helen L. Gant Fitzgerald. On November 17, 1956 in the Richburg 1st Day Baptist Church, she married Bobby F. Boyd, who predeceased her July 14, 2015.

Rowena had resided most of her life in The Town of Wirt and was a graduate of Richburg Central School, class of 1955. After her marriage to Bobby, she moved from place to place keeping with her husband’s Navy career. She lived in Japan for 2 years during the Vietnam War Era. Returning to the Town of Wirt, Rowena was a full- time mother and Wife for her family.

She enjoyed bird watching, traveling, TV, Flower growing and gardening. Most of all she enjoyed all kinds of animals and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Rowena was a past member of the Richburg 1st Day Baptist Church and had been a AWANA teacher there.

Surviving are a son, Williiam Ernest (Cynthia) Boyd of Germantown, MD; a daughter, Elizabeth (Bradley) Schiralli of Bolivar; 4 grandchildren, Bryan L. Boyd and David A. Boyd of Germantown, MD, and Carmen E. Schiralli and Margaret L. Schiralli of Bolivar; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a sister, Mary E. Boyd and a brother, Francis L. Fitzgerald.

Friends may call at the Treusdell Funeral Home, Friendship Monday March 11, 2024 from 10 am to 12 noon at which time (12 noon) funeral services will be held. The Rev.. Duane Broadwell Pastor of the Friendship Bible Baptist Church, will officiate and burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Friendship.
