Sylvia A. “Sue” Booth

Sylva A."Sue" Booth, 70, of 28 ½ Stevens Ave., Cuba passed away Monday, April 29, 2013 at her home following a brief illness. Born April 29, 1943 in Olean, she was the daughter of Ernest Wiser and Frances Miles. She was married to Claude Halsaver in 1960 and on June 24, 1976 was married to Chester Booth who predeceased her in 1986.

Sylvia had resided in Friendship until 1981 at which time she moved to Cuba. She had attended Friendship Central School and received her GED from there in 1978. She was employed for several years at Jones Chemical Plant in Friendship. For a short period of time, she was employed at AVX in Olean and Acme Electric Corp. in Cuba. Later she was a home health care person in the area for Jan and Bev's in Wellsville.

She loved the out of doors, where she enjoyed bird watching and camping. Also she loved playing Euchre with her friends. Most of all she loved her family, being with them, always a big smile on her face.

Sylvia was a member of the Cuba Senior Citizens and the Cuba American Legion Auxiliary Post Number 655.

Surviving are two sons, Tony Halsaver of Okeechobee, FL, and Steven (Annabelle) Halsaver of Indianapolis, IN; two daughters, Linda Halsaver of Durham, NC, and Lori (Phillip Butler) Smith of Cuba; 8 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; three brothers, Chuck (Cheryl) Wiser of Scio, Rolly (Cindy) Miles of Friendship,and Dennis (Christie) Miles of Wellsville; a sister, Connie Hill of Tampa, FL; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Treusdell Funeral Home, Friendship, 2-4 and 7-9 pm Wednesday, where funeral and committal services will be held Thursday May 2, 2013 at 1:00 pm. The Rev. Robert Mackmer, pastor of the Free Methodist Church in Belfast will officiate and burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Friendship. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
