Virginia E. “Ginny” VanDusen

Virginia E. "Ginny" VanDusen, 82, formerly of 37 East Hughes St, passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at Highland Healthcare Center, Wellsville, following a lengthy illness. Born August 10, 1932 in Belfast, she was the daughter of Robert and Thelma Crawford Keeler. On May 11, 1952, she married Richard E. "Dick" VanDusen, who predeceased her on November 18, 2008.

Ginny had resided most of her life in the Belfast area. She was a graduate of Belfast Central School, class of 1950. Before graduating she drove delivery truck for her parents bakery, "Keeler's Bakery" in Belfast. For several years she was an assembler at Fisher-Price Corp. in Arcade. For a few years she was a cook at Camp Rushford, then for many years was a cook at Belfast Central School cafeteria.

She enjoyed gardening, making ceramic pottery, traveling and camping. Most of all she loved her family and being with them.

Ginny had attended the First Baptist church and the United Methodist Church both of Belfast and was a past member of the Belfast American Legion auxiliary Post 1504.

Surviving are a son, Richard G. (Carolyn) VanDusen of Texas; two daughters, Diane L. (Terry) Fisher of Belfast, and Laura P. (David) Warner of Belfast; five grandchildren and several great grandchildren; two brothers, John (Karrie) Keeler of Sacramento, CA, and Robert (Robin) Keeler of Wilmington, NC; a sister, Roberta (George) Mahoney of Sacramento, CA; and several nieces and nephews.

Ginny was predeceased by a sister, Bootsie Lang.

Friends are invited by the family to attend a memorial service to be held at Treusdell Funeral Home, Belfast on Monday, August 18, 2014 at 3:00. Rev. Robert Mackmer, pastor of the Belfast Free Methodist Church will officiate and burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Belfast. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Western NY 2805 Wehrle Dr. Ste 6 Williamsville, NY 14221-7380.
